In March my wife and I welcomed our little guy Owen into the world. It&#8217;s crazy to think that he&#8217;s three months old already and growing up incredibly&nbsp;fast.</p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2011/06/09/medium_5815100564_62e4d92b98_b.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2011/06/09/medium_5808436897_94aeaa6869_b.jpg" /></p> Thu, 09 Jun 2011 10:43:00 -0300http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2011/jun/09/baby-owen/Molsonhttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/sep/30/molson/<p>This is Molson, he belongs to our good friends Jay and Rosanna. He&#8217;s got to be the friendliest and most easy going dog I&rsquo;ve ever met. He was an easy dog to photograph, as soon as I spoke and he saw the camera, he&rsquo;d sit dead still until I got the&nbsp;shot.</p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/09/30/medium_Molson.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/09/30/medium_Molson+2.jpg" /></p> Thu, 30 Sep 2010 09:32:00 -0300http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/sep/30/molson/2010 Cumberland Country Show & Shinehttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/jun/28/2010-cumberland-country-show-shine/<p>Car show season is once again upon us. If you&#8217;ve followed my photography much in the past, you&#8217;ll know that automobiles are by far some of my favourite photo subjects. Examples <a href="http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/05/classic-car-nights/">here</a> and <a href="http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2009/jul/28/panel-van/">here</a>. Yesterday, my wife and I attended the 2010 Cumberland County Show <span class="amp">&amp;</span> Shine here in Amherst. It&#8217;s one of the smaller shows I&#8217;ve been to, but the quality in cars definitely wasn&#8217;t lacking as you can see from some of the shots I grabbed&nbsp;below.</p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1962+Ford+Econoline+Pickup+Front.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1962+Ford+Econoline+Pickup.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_2005+Shelby+GT+500+Convertible.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_2005+Ford+Mustang+4.0+Litre.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1972+Chevrolet+Chevelle.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1972+Chevrolet+Chevelle+SS+396.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1970+Ford+Mustang+Mach+1.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1969+Ford+Mustang.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1969+Ford+Mustang+Artwork.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1969+Ford+Bronco.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1967+Buick+Skylark+Convertible.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1966+Ford+Mustang+289.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1955+Pontiac+Star+Chief.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1953+Mercury+M-100.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1953+Mercury+M-100+Logo.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1953+Fargo.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1952+Pontiac+Chieftan.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1951+Chevrolet+3100.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1937+Chevrolet+1.5+Ton.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1931+Ford+Panel.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/06/28/medium_1931+Chrysler.jpg" /></p> Mon, 28 Jun 2010 08:54:00 -0300http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/jun/28/2010-cumberland-country-show-shine/Sugar Woodshttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/mar/31/sugar-woods/<p>A few weekends ago my wife and I took a trip to one of the local maple sugar woods with her sister, brother in-law, and niece. It was a beautiful day, but the strong sun glaring off the fresh white snow made it a bit difficult at times to grab properly lit&nbsp;photos.</p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/31/medium_DSC_4043.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/31/medium_DSC_4049.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/31/medium_DSC_4054.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/31/medium_DSC_4061.jpg" /></p> Wed, 31 Mar 2010 18:23:00 -0300http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/mar/31/sugar-woods/Caseyhttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/mar/18/casey-birdsanctuary/<p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/16/large_DSC_4033.jpg" alt="DSC_4033.jpg" title="DSC_4033.jpg" /></p> <p>It&#8217;s never difficult to snap a great shot of our niece, Casey. The chickadees are extremely tame and will land on your hand&mdash;looking for food of course. I managed to snag a couple of great shots, though they&#8217;re not the easiest bird to photograph as they rarely sit&nbsp;still.</p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/16/medium_DSC_4014.jpg" /></p> <p><img src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/03/16/medium_DSC_4013.jpg" /></p> Tue, 16 Mar 2010 10:23:00 -0300http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/mar/16/chickadee/Simeon Jones River Valley Amber Alehttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/17/simeon-jones-river-valley-amber-ale/ <p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/17/large_DSC_3982.jpg" alt="DSC_3982.jpg" title="DSC_3982.jpg" /></p> <p>From Picaroon&#8217;s Traditional Ales in Fredericton, New Brunswick&mdash;my new favourite&nbsp;microbrewery.</p> Wed, 17 Feb 2010 09:52:37 -0400http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/17/simeon-jones-river-valley-amber-ale/Whistlershttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/12/whistlers/<p>On the Labour day weekend of 2009, my wife and I did our last trip to Jasper and Banff before we set on out on our move back to the Maritimes. Although we have done a lot of hiking in the Jasper area, we had never gone up on the <a href="http://www.jaspertramway.com/" title="Jasper Tramway">Jasper Tramway</a>&nbsp;and done the hike to the summit of Whistlers Mountain (~8000ft above sea level). We took the opportunity this time, even though it was ridiculously&nbsp;busy.</p> <p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/11/large_DSC_1973.jpg" alt="DSC_1973.jpg" title="DSC_1973.jpg" /></p> <p>This is the first stopping point on the hike. This shot really doesn&#8217;t do the location justice. The grade is incredibly steep here, so much so that we walked past a couple of people that were having trouble coaxing themselves to go back down this part of the mountain to the tram station in the center of the shot. If you look closely at the bottom of the photo, you&#8217;ll see a woman in a red jacket with yellow trim sitting down on a rock, she was one of those having trouble summoning the courage to get back&nbsp;down.</p> <p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/11/large_DSC_1950.jpg" alt="DSC_1950.jpg" title="DSC_1950.jpg" /></p> <p>It was incredibly cloudy that day (as you can see in the first shot) but as we were reaching the summit the sun started to poke holes in the clouds that surrounded us (literally, we were right in the middle of a cloud as we hiked) and&nbsp;we were presented with some breathtaking views. The photo above is a shot of the Yellowhead Mountain Range. The sunlight filtering through the clouds created some amazing colours on the ice caps of the&nbsp;mountains.</p> <p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/11/large_DSC_1870.jpg" alt="DSC_1870.jpg" title="DSC_1870.jpg" /></p> <p>Another part of the Yellowhead range. Each mountain peak in this range is named after a recipient of the Victoria Cross medal of&nbsp;honour.</p> <p>Even though we no longer live in Alberta, Jasper will always be one of my favourite places in Canada. Hopefully we&#8217;ll be able to return before too long to visit and explore some more hiking&nbsp;trails.</p> Fri, 12 Feb 2010 10:15:00 -0400http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/12/whistlers/Classic Car Nightshttp://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/05/classic-car-nights/<p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/03/large_4171195791_2b35777bcb_o.jpg" alt="4171195791_2b35777bcb_o.jpg" title="4171195791_2b35777bcb_o.jpg" /></p> <p>The last few days I&#8217;ve been going through the shots that I took in 2009 and reminiscing a bit about our time living in Alberta and St. Albert in particular. Each Tuesday evening during the summer months the Gold Dust Casino in St. Albert had a classic car night. It was always a great photo opportunity as well as a chance to talk to the owners of some of the cars to get their stories about their&nbsp;ride.</p> <p>Pictured above is a 2009 Dodge Challenger <span class="caps">SRT8</span> and below is a 1972 Buick Skylark&nbsp;<span class="caps">GS</span>.</p> <p><img class="fj-Photo fj-large" src="http://media.myfotojournal.com:80/blogs/jeffsmith/photos/2010/02/03/large_4171955516_6cc78eae45_o.jpg" alt="4171955516_6cc78eae45_o.jpg" title="4171955516_6cc78eae45_o.jpg" /></p> Fri, 05 Feb 2010 09:00:00 -0400http://photoblog.jeffsmith.me/2010/feb/05/classic-car-nights/
